JR's Rescue at 15
by Sally Beck

We volunteer at our local shelter. Murphy was a black mini and was 16 years old (just went to the Bridge at 18) at home. We walked into the kennel for our shift and a darling mini was dancing for us. We fell in love immediately! Of course he came home with us and he and Murphy were instantly best friends.
JR was 15 and his people parents were elderly and couldn't care for him any longer. It was a very sad surrender, and a blessing for JR and us. He is the best lovable little guy ever. Actually he is 30# and Murphy was only 10#.
JR is 17 now and just had stones removed and is 100% again. When he crosses the bridge, we will look for a senior bonded pair to love and spoil!
They shared a bed on the couch right next to me. I slept with my head on their bed when I knew Murphy's time was coming and as soon as we detected pain, it was time. We are still very sad but have wonderful memories and have our sweet JR.
