Smokey is a 5-year-old miniature schnauzer. From the day we brought him home we knew he was our special little boy. Even though Smokey was a "runt", he has always been playful and full of energy.
At the age of 2 Smokey developed a cataract and we knew we couldn't let him lose his vision in his right eye so we drove two hours away to a specialist to have the cataract removed and a lens implant inserted. Poor little guy had to wear the "cone of shame" for six weeks! Six months later Smokey developed a bladder stone which lodged in his ureter and had to have yet another surgery. One year later at the age of 3, he formed several other bladder stones which lodged and had his third surgery in two years.
We always knew he had allergies and tried several antibiotics but either his stomach could not tolerate them or they didn't help so after allergy testing and learned that a hypoallergenic dog was allergic to several environmental things (grass, cats, fleas, weeds, Sycamore trees, dust mites, wool, etc.) so we started him on sublingual allergy medicine. Through all the trials and tribulations of all his medical problems he never put up a fight and always is such a good little boy taking all of his medication.
Smokey loves frisbees and is such the "social butterfly" He will greet you with an abundance of barking and the wagging "nubby tail" and wait for you to sit down just to jump on your lap to be loved.
