(Isle of Wight)
Last Wednesday our lovely Hugo passed away. He was only ill for a few days and when things got too much for him, our vet came to our house and sent him to his final sleep whilst he lay in his basket by our woodburner.
He was so easy to own and love for almost eleven years. His lovely long beard, his clicky toenails on the wooden flooring, his morning bound upstairs to visit me in bed, his big AROOOOO! to greet us when we came in after leaving him for an hour or two, his mad barking as we got his dinner ready, his trot, trot, trot, trot pace a few yards ahead of us as we walked, either in places he knew well or places foreign to him on holidays spent in areas that we knew would be right up his street such as Dartmoor, Exmoor or the Wye Valley.
Dear lovely boy, our lives will never be the same again now you have gone. Thank you for all the hundreds of wonderful hours we spent with you walking, lounging by the fire, pottering in the garden, sharing the fun with the grandchildren, sleeping in an untidy heap in our bed, bowing our heads against the rain and wind, slithering in the ice and snow, puffing in the heat, splashing in the sea. We loved you unendingly and will never ever forget you. Your love was unconditional.
Dear Mr Fluffballs, rest peacefully forever........ You gave so much and meant the whole world to us .......
