Ducky Morkie

by Linda Barrette
(McKinney, TX, USA)

Ducky Morkie

Ducky Morkie

Ducky was born with hydrocephalus. He was taken away from his mom too young and is not socialized. He two brothers are very healthy and were adopted by great families. Ducky was to last one to be born in a litter of 3 boys. His birth was difficult as he showed his hiney first and was stuck inside his mother's womb.

Ducky couldn't lick, eat on his own, walk without limping. He was very weak and had not been socialized. We had to feed him with a syringe. He is learning something new every day. He eats and drinks on his own and went from 2.8 pounds to 3.2 pounds in a couple of weeks. He loves to be loved on and comes to us to be cuddled. He had his first grooming a week ago and did well. Everything scares him and he pitches a screaming fit when he is terrified. Regardless, we love him and he has a home with us.

Ducky beat the odds so far as he has started to do things normal dogs do. Usually, dogs with his condition don't make it to the age of 2. He will turn 2, tomorrow, August 2, 2010.
