A Tribute to Miniature Schnauzer Gus Elliot

by Anna Elliot
(Benkelman, Nebraska USA)

Miniature Schnauzer, Gus

Miniature Schnauzer, Gus

Gus was diagnosed with lymphoma on August 19, 2009 but I had felt the lumps mid July. My vets told me he would live 1 to 2 months without chemo. I elected not to torture him further with treatment after long soul searching to do what was in the best interest of my boy. I had him for over 8 months of good quality of life, him only being ill a few days in that time period. He was no show dog, nor obedience, nor agility, but he was #1 in our heart. I had lost my husband 2 years ago and I feel he was missing his little pal too much, so on March 31, 2010, Gus went to be with his best buddy and daddy. This little guy touched my soul and will forever live in my heart. We miss him very much.

beautiful Gus
by: Sarah

Gus is definitely with my Annie and your husband! They are waiting for us at the bridge and are no longer in any pain. Gus was a beautiful and well loved schnauzer. I am extremely sad for your loss and my heart and prayers go out to you.

Be Strong
by: beth

Be strong my friend. you have support from across the globe. For those of us who have loved and lost a mini schnauzer or any beloved pet that was part of the family, we know what you are going through. At least Gus is with his daddy and Max has his mommy. Sending you prayers daily for strength.

Still Crying
by: Anna K

It's been 2 months since Gus left us to be with his Daddy and I'm sure they have been reunited at the bridge. Thank you for your kind comments. Max our 3 year old Mini Schnauzer and I still miss him a lot. Max continues to look for him. He grabs a toy then turns around to see if Gus is there to tug or play and that is sad too. We are slowing getting into a routine and we will be fine, it is just hard.

How sweet
by: The Sassy 7 Pack

I'm so sorry for your loss of both your husband and Gus. When I lost my first Schnauzer, I said "no more", but after several months I got another Schnauzer, and even 6 more since then. I work with Schnauzer Love Rescue and love it. I hope some day you will think about another wonderful pet.

PS, you don't have to go crazy like me and get so many minis, but it sure has helped me since the loss of my husband.

Love & Licks,
Corky & The Sassy 7 Pack

What a beautiful little Schnauzer. I am so sorry for your loss and that his life (& your husband's) was cut short. I hope you can find some comfort in the wonderful memories of them.
Many blessings.
