What a funny looking Schnauzer

by Patricia Iversen
(Burlington, Washington)

At a time when we were losing a beloved 14 year-old Schnauzer named Schnitzel, due to poison dog food, we were urged to adopt a Schnauzer who was in a bad situation. She was living in a home where the owner did ferret rescue. Now, we all know that Schnauzers don't get along with varmits. We really didn't feel the time was right, but we finally agreed to go and look at the dog. Well, it was love at first sight for my husband when he picked her up and she almost licked his face off. For myself, I had a few doubts. She sure didn't look like a full bred Schnauzer to me. She had a black face, wide-set ears, and, of all things, a tail! She even had a funny name - Oreo. We ended up taking her home and she has become the love of our lives. Our Schnitzel went to Doggie Heaven shortly after and we were blessed to have Oreo to comfort us.

She is the best Schnauzer out of the three we've had and that's saying a lot, as the other two were great. She is extremely loving, obedient, does very little barking, and loves to travel. Of course, like all Schnauzers, she pulls at the leash when walking. Everywhere we take Oreo, she attracts attention with that darling tail, especially at the assisted living facility where we go to visit "Grandma". We are SO thankful for her in our lives.

We would love to see your funny looking Schnauzer Oreo. I bet Oreo is adorable. I've never seen a Schnauzer that wasn't cute.
