Schnauzer pulling leash

by Carol
(North Carolina)

I'm having trouble walking my miniature schnauzer. She's always pulling me.
I try to make her heel but as soon as I let up a bit, she's at it again. Any ideas?

Schnauzer pulling on leash
by: Teresa

Yes, they pull. It's the terrier brain! My pup is only 4 months old and when using a harness, she simply would not listen. She'd pull and pull.
So my trainer suggested a collar that is a combination of strap and chain. When she pulls the chain part tightens the strap so she feels pressure, as soon as she lets up, the chain part loosens and all is well.
It took her about 5 seconds to get used to the collar, and the first time she pulled - she let up! She is a different dog with that collar. Now she only wears her harness because it has all her tags on it and it's easy for me to grab.
I love her new collar and she doesn't seem to mind it at all now.

Good Harness for No Pulling
by: Peggy

My Dotti was just awful at pulling. I bought this harness from a great company Pet Expertise, whom I have had really good luck with. It made an amazing difference with her! They have a little video to watch when you go to the site. Good luck!

Gentle Leader
by: SchnauzerPics

I've had great success with a Gentle Leader collar. When he pulls it adds pressure to his snout area and he backs off. When he does this I say "Easy". I've been going back and forth with the gentle leader and the regular collar as he begins to understand what "Easy" means.

He did not care for the gentle leader over his nose area for about 2 days, but he doesn't seem to mind anymore.
