POISONOUS PLANTS TO DOGS

Learn of the more common, yet poisonous plants to dogs, that could potentially be life-threatening, if ingested.
It could save your Miniature Schnauzer's life!

Dogs by nature, are very curious. They love to sniff, smell, and taste just about everything they come in contact with - including plants.

However, ingesting even small amounts of a toxic or poisonous plant (or harmful food) could actually lead to several health problems for your Miniature Schnauzer.

Some with lasting effects!


Potential Risks & Side Effects:

Just look at some of the risks and side effects caused by ingesting poisonous plants: gastrointestinal problems - such as vomiting and diarrhea, to more serious problems like tremors and seizures, and worse yet, potentially fatal problems like cardiac arrest, kidney damage, liver failure, and even death!



Below is a list of common but dangerous plants to your Miniature Schnauzer. Keep in mind, the list in no way represents all the plants that may be toxic or dangerous to your dog.

It's also worth noting that some dogs may have reactions to certain plants that are considered nontoxic.

Best rule of thumb:

"Stop and smell the flowers.........just don't eat them"

Also, be aware that Cocoa mulch is deadly to dogs. Cocoa mulch contains ingredients that could pose a health risk to your Schnauzer if ingested. Always supervise your Schnauzer outdoors.

dog health tip: If you MUST induce vomiting because your Schnauzer has ingested a poisonous plant or food - mix 2 teaspoons of water and 2 teaspoons of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. This will usually cause the dog to vomit.

AND most importantly call your Vet or animal emergency clinic right away!

Caustic substances do fatal damage to your Schnauzer's main body functions within minutes. Caustic substance are things like drain cleaner, battery acid, fertilizer, glue, household cleaners, laundry detergent, turpentine, nail polish, nail polish remover, etc.....
