Miniature Schnauzer Griffin

Springtime with Griffin

Griffin was born in China and we purchased him there when living in Guangzhou. We found him in the vet clinic/pet shop at our housing estate. He was so eager and full of licks when my daughters and I would pop in. Totally irresistible!

He'd probably lived in a cage for most of his 8 months of life and so when we brought him back to our apartment, it was a real learning experience for him. He had to learn how to walk up stairs and live with a family.

We brought him back to Canada when we moved home 4 1/2 years ago and, although the paperwork was huge, it was actually a very easy trip. Poor guy had to go 20 hours without toileting which was a bit of a strain. The first thing he did when exiting the airport was to have a VERY long tinkle on the closest tree!

Our 13 year old schnauzer Griffin had a stroke over a week ago and another one this morning which incapacitated him. We had to have him put down. Sooooo sad!!! He was a really wonderful dog. We bought him in China when he was 8 months old. Like the book, Ten Good Things about Barney, here are Ten Good Things about Griffin.
1)He was smart.
2)He charmed random people when we took him for walks.
3)He loved the beach and barked at the waves.
4)He was enthusiastic.
5)He would eat almost anything.
6)He was musical.
7)He was funny and expressive.
8)He loved to play chase.
9)He liked sniffing around the neighbourhood in cold and wet weather.
10)He was afraid of farts and vacuums cleaners.

the park you see him in

This is a gorgeous Gary Oak meadow park just a few blocks from our house. There are rare species of plants there, so he has to stay on a leash. Every spring there are thousands of crocuses and many other flowers that bloom there. Gorgeous!

Thanks for the nice comment.

Griffin!

Griffin is quite the lucky fellow! He's a world traveler, has a wonderful family, and gets to romp in the springtime flowers!! All that, and beautiful, too!
