Happy Landing for Lexie and Buddy

by Ann

Miniature Schnauzers, Lexie and Buddy out on a walk.

Miniature Schnauzers, Lexie and Buddy out on a walk.

I had always wanted a dog, and finally decided I was going to get one (I kept saying "for the family," but I wanted one as much as the kids). I researched to find out what breed would be the best match for us, and then I began to look at our local Humane Society.

One day they listed this adorable little schnauzer girl that had been picked up as a stray. When I arrived to meet her, she hid under her cot. It took quite a while before she would even come out to sniff me. She was so shy! I had looked at a few other dogs in the months before this, but I knew she was the one. Her age was estimated at about a year and a half.

Lexie is now 9 years old and has been such a blessing to me and to the family. She does well with our children, all four of them - the youngest was two years old when we got her - and is intelligent and loving. She protects the house with her warning bark and checks out everyone who comes to visit.

We were so happy with Lexie that a few years later I started to look at the Humane Society again for another mini schnauzer. Two years ago I found Buddy, a one year old male who had been surrendered by his family. I brought him home as well. Buddy turned out to be such a playful and fun dog. He is quite different from Lexie in temperament. She is more calm and he is a ball of energy!

The miniature schnauzer is a great family dog, they shed very little, and they are extremely loyal and faithful members of the family. I'm so glad we could give these two miniature schnauzers a good home and know that they are happy to have landed in our family.
