Callie & Lexie

by Michael
(Lancaster County, PA, USA)

Our little bookends last Christmas!

Our little bookends last Christmas!

An angel of a dog, Callie, was our white, peace-maker miniature schnauzer. She was quiet, loving and a perfect compliment to her sisters, Misty, Whoopi and Lexie. Callie's life was a long one...living past 15 years. She grew weary in the past few years, becoming deaf, her back legs not allowing steps or jumping anymore, but her grace continued until she died on March 23, 2011, with her two daddies by her side. She had said goodbye to her older sisters, Misty and Whoopi, and left a grieving baby sister, Lexie.

Lexie was a very vibrant, noisy, lively and independent little girl...we lovingly called her 'grexy lexy'. She made noises that a dog truly isn't supposed to make, but that was part of her unique personality. Although we didn't see any signs of grief when Callie died (no loss of appetite, etc.), Lexie had a seizure on Monday, April 11, 2011, only 19 days after Callie's death. She had a seizure later that morning and her veterinarian was not able to save her.

Our lives are empty, the house is lonely...we thought we'd have at least another 3 or 4 years with Lexie. I prayed for some comfort; a message from her to give me some peace. That morning at 4 am I woke with a divine voice speaking for Lexie saying, "I gave you all I had to give, there was no more left; I was tired and had to go." I do believe she needed to be with her sister, Callie, and followed her across the Rainbow Bridge!!!

Broken Hearts with Loving Memories Forever,

Your Daddy Michael & Daddy George

Dear George and Michael
by: Steve

There is no greater pain than what you are experiencing at this time. My heart goes out to you both. As you have already said, both of your kids gave all they could to you, and I am sure Callie and Lexie feel the same about you. After our little ones go on, we are able to still feel their warmth and love. My Dixie spent her last night alive with me one month ago tonight. I never thought her time would come, she was feeling terrific right up until the day before she had to go, so I can imagine your horror at having to say goodbye to Callie so soon after losing Lexie. The warmth and love of Dixie is still with me as Callie and Lexie's love is still with you. They have molded us all into better people. All my blessings are with you at this time.

With a heavy heart and tear-filled eyes, I read your tribute to little Callie and Lexie. No words can take away the pain of your loss ... just know that one day, you will be reunited with your Callie and Lexie and they will be just as excited to be with you as you will to be with them again.

RIP Callie and Lexie
by: Grieving a Pet as well

Was saddened by your story...that is such great loss. I too have lost a pet recently. My beautiful 6 year old Golden Retriever Max died last Oct. 14th less than a month after being diagnosed with a large inoperable tumor that was lodged between his esophagus and and heart. We had to have him euthanized due to inability to breathe fully and loss of use of his back legs from weakness . It was horrible having a vibrant , happy, playful dog to an invalid less than a month later! Thankfully we had our new mini Schnauzer Kenzie to ear our pain. We had only had her less than a year when Max got sick , but she had formed a bond with him and laid by his side and tried to play with him when he rallied for short periods. She grieved as well when he died, refusing to go outside where he lived without first going to where his bed was and pausing, looking for him!!! I feel your pain and know it will take a long time to get over... But I think as my neighbor told me that just lost her mini Schnauzer of 11 years, what saved her from being consumed with grief was to go out and get a new schnauzer puppy!!! God bless!

Heart breaking
by: Chris

As I sit here reading about your loss, my heart is breaking and i'm in tears. Two and a half years ago we got our first Schnauzer, a white one we named Heidi. My love for her runs so deep I can't imagine what I will be like when the day comes that she joins your two babies. My heart and prayer goes out to you both.

Im so saddened by your loss. I knew before i read the whole story that i would not be ableto keep it together as i sit here with my beautiful puppy Sookie. This is my 1st dog and my 1st schnauzer and so i understand the great loss of Lexi and Callie. I cannot imagine my life without Sookie.
I truly believe your darlings are beautiful angels in heaven looking down upon us all and smiling to know the joy they brought to your lives.

Callie & Lexie's Daddies Say Thank You!
by: Michael

The love and sharing each and every one of you has entered here has been most comforting. To know how many pet lovers, especially those loving our special schnauzers, is overwhelming and lets us know that our pain is felt by many. My heart goes out to each of you that have shared stories of your losses.

Our home is still empty, our hearts still ache but we know that our "babies" would want us to continue to give love to the many dogs out there waiting for loving homes. After time to heal, allowing the memories to settle to a soft smile, I know we will open our home and hearts again for new little ones to brighten our lives!

Thank you again for all of your dear messages!!!

Michael & George

I'm so sorry
by: Anna K

I'm so sorry for your double loss of these precious creatures that God gave us the privelidge of caring for for a short while. I lost my Gus a year ago to cancer and my other schnauzer Max, mourned him for a long time along with me. He still looks for him. Remember all the wonderful memories that you have and know you will all meet again at the bridge!

by: KG ~ Ebenezer's "mom"

My heart goes out to you both. I can't imagine losing a beloved pet and family member. They are both on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, healthy, running, playing with each other, and waiting to be reunited with their loving masters. You have my deepest sympathy, and God Bless.

by: sbealko

I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. It's hard enough to lose one but 2 around the same time is just heart wrenching. You have 2 incredible angels looking over you both.
Losing a bestfriend myself to seizures helps me to relate. As time goes on it gets easier but you still have your hard days and most of all you never forget.

God Bless you both!
